Stonewall report says gay people “almost invisible” on TV

A Stonewall report warns that gay people receive poor coverage on TV, with half of portrayals of LGBT people showing them as “figures of fun, predatory or promiscuous”. Seventy per cent of secondary teachers said this could be increasing homophobic bullying in schools. Ben Sumerskill said the BBC was the worst culprit and that it could not justify universal license fees if it did not improve its portrayals of LGBT people.
