Restaurant Review: 52°North Bar & Kitchen

If you’re struggling to find somewhere new and interesting to take your loved one in London this Valentine’s week you can’t go wrong with the rather funky 52°North Bar & Kitchen which opened recently in Poland Street, Soho.

The fantastic menu serves a selection of British classics including Gloucester old spot chop, Arbroath smokies fishcake and the good ol’ fashioned Knickerbocker Glory all with a modern twist . And an eclectic mix of British flavour behind the bar begs you try something new,  artisan beers from the Harviestoun Brewery in Scotland, wines from Chapel Down vineyard in Kent, and Dunkerton’s organic cider from Herefordshire.

We know it’s not all about the food and the flavours, the atmosphere is just as important. Thankfully there is nothing to worry about. The feather-like design wood panels, wooden chairs and lavish leather Chesterfields with soft lighting throughout make for relaxed and trendy surroundings.

Lights are the central motiff in 52°North Bar & Kitchen. The bulbs that adorn the logo are strewn throughout the restaurant and to striking effect. The central catwalk (well it’s on the ceiling…a spider walk?) of 600 light bulbs add a touch of the All Saints feel, so this is definitely for the cooler kids in the crowd.
