Since seeing her storm a London showcase several months ago, So So Gay has been ever so slightly enamoured with rising star Kelli-Leigh and her powerful voice. When not touring with international sensation Adele, the bona fide ‘watch this space’ superstar in the making is building her name and honing her talent on London’s unsigned music scene, and ‘Missing You’ is her latest track.
Written in memory of a family friend, the song is a great mix of uplifting and mournful. There is no doubt this person meant the world to Kelli-Leigh, but this song is far from morose. It’s about remembering great times had together rather than the pain of separation. A lesson that can only truly be learned after going through the hardest of times, yet one we can all empathise with regardless of whether we’ve experienced loss in the same way.
