The BBC reports that a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the leg and chest after leaving gay cabaret bar The Black Cap in Camden in a homophobic attack in the early hours of yesterday morning. The victim, as yet unnamed, left the venue with two friends and was approached by a group of men, one of whom asked ‘Are you gay?’. He was ignored, but a couple of minutes later approached the victim again with a knife.

The incident happened at 2.15am; the victim is stable in hospital. Four men aged between 20 and 25 are being sought over the attack, which is being treated as an isolated incident.

Detective Inspector Les Newman said: ‘This was a cowardly and unprovoked attack on three innocent males making their way home. This is being treated as a homophobic incident, and the investigation team is working closely with the local community to identify those responsible. We urge anyone who was in the area and may have seen something to contact Camden police on 020 8733 6474 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’

Update: The BBC report that four youths have been arrested, all aged 17 to 19.
