Facebook Adds Civil Union/Partnership

Catching up with equality, Facebook has added Civil Union into the list of relationship statuses. This is available to users in US, Canada, the UK and Australia. This addition has long been called for by users with many groups being established in the past.
This move has been welcomed by many LGBT chairites including the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in the United States who worked with Facebook to introduce the new option. Whilst only a minor change to a drop box of options the fact the largest online commiunity now recognises the legal unions of thousands of its members is to be commended.

We’ll have more on this story soon.
