EUROvisual – Switzerland kicks off Eurovision season

Welcome back one and all! It’s seven months since the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 took place in Germany and EUROvisual is pleased to declare the preparations for Eurovision 2012 officially open.

Next year’s contest will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 24 May, thanks to Ell & Nikki’s victory with ‘Running Scared’. Although the actual venue is still yet to be confirmed, Switzerland has already kicked off the National Final season in earnest.

Despite a serious challenge from Lys Assia, Swiss winner of the very first Eurovision Song Contest and general Euro-legend, the passport to represent Switzerland in Baku was won by the relatively unknown duo Sinplus, with their song ‘Unbreakable’. It’s an adequate number with rock undertones, although we here at EUROvisual can’t help but feel that it has semi-final written all over it. That, of course, depends on the quality of the remaining entries yet to be chosen. You can see the Swiss entry below.

What we can be very grateful for is the fact that Same Difference did not succeed in their attempt to represent Switzerland.

See you soon for more Eurovision news and views!
