I considered racist/race an acceptable short-hand in this case as his comments are not just aimed at Islam as a religion but a number of countries and their people also.

Most large scale organised religions, especially ones as old as Islam have unsavoury positions on homosexuality it's true, Christianity is much the same - I give you the Bible:

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them."

In Christianity, like Islam, the majority of followers have over the decades become much more moderate and liberal in their views of homosexuality, women, other faiths and so on.

But sadly, in all walks of life, you get those who are unwilling or unable to accept those who have made lifestyle choices different to their own.

There are radical Islamists out there (Abu Hamza for one)and the Phelps family (Westboro Baptist Church) of godhatesfags fame batting the ball for Christianity's darker side.

All in all, these people are in the minority and their views should be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, but public figures should always expect to be called on their remarks - especially if they're ones that are plain wrong and offensive.

Islam is a totalitarian philosophy that calls for ALL GAY PEOPLE TO BE KILLED... there are several schools of islamic belief and all of them agree that gay people should be murdered.

And before you cry ISLAMOPHOBE, please note that a phobia is an irrational fear.. my fears are quite real and based on the Quran and Hadith. So before you crucify Mr Ames as a racist I suggest you educate yourself.

Anyone that has met Ames would understand his comments (that he was forced to remove) came from what he really believes on a whole. The back peddling and apologies was only when he realised he may have jeopardised his own safety - nothing else. It is well-known he is an obnoxious racist and extremely xenophobic. He has crossed many people across all walks of his life. One day he will cross the wrong people who wont take likely to his small minded views. Perhaps by upsetting a whole religious community (worldwide) he may have now met his match. We all remember what reprisals occurred to the building of the Danish Newspaper after fuelling racism with a comic of the profit! He is totally dishonest in business dealings and has left many small businesses reeling in debt by liquidating/changing his Ltd companies when it suits him. Furthermore, many of his former employees have taken him to employment tribunals and won but have been left with him again bankrupting his business to avoid paying his due fees.
