Watch the Astoria be torn down

astoria-london

This video, shared on the London Reconnections blog, shows the complete demolition of 157 – 167 Charing Cross Road (which includes the Astoria), 9 – 15 Oxford Street and 1 – 6 Falconberg Court. In this small corner of Soho lived both the venues for G-A-Y and Ghetto nightclubs. They have been removed to make way for a Crossrail station.

These images were taken from TFLs offices in Centre Point tower across the street from the site.

Gone, but for many gays of a certain age, never forgotten.
