Vatican dignitary says gay marriage is like ‘decaffinated coffee’

Wake up and smell the (queer) coffee.

Wake up and smell the (queer) coffee.

A leading Vatican dignitary on tour in Mexico has attacked the predominantly Catholic nation for legalising same sex marriage. At an academic conference, Father Gonzalo Miranda, a professor of bioethics at Regina Apostolorum University declared “A gay relationship is like decaffinated coffee, you do not wake up”. One could equally say that heterosexual sex is like cake with no baking powder….sod all rising here.

Angered by the law brought into effect last December which also allows gay couples to adopt, Miranda continued: “On two occasions (in California) people spoke out against the legal recognition of gay marriage and twice a judge changed the popular vote with a ruling. In Mexico, I don’t know the mechanism used, but the people were not consulted (and) there wasn’t a referendum either.” – There also wasn’t one on forcing all blind people to wear multicoloured clown outfits to amuse the able-sighted majority on their way to work.

Already as grave a threat to humanity as “the destruction of the rainforests” according to the Pontiff and now we’re Nescafe’s finest. I suggest that if the Catholic Church spent as much time protecting children from paedophilia and promoting safe sex as they did coming up with colourful analogies to insult their most fabulous of adversaries then they might have the tiniest bit of moral highground for a change. Pigs fly…
