Ladies Love Louie Louie

Hoes, hags, beards, humps, bumps and lovely lady lumps – whatever we call them, there are times when a gay’s best friend – those long-suffering, breakup-handling, shopping-holding, gossip-enjoying girls occasionally need to be reminded of just how much we love them. (well, we love that they love us, and really, that’s almost the same thing, right?) And what better way for a gay to express feelings of love (or gratitude, or just plain bribery, depending on the hag in question, and just how much she knows) than with nice clothes?

And not just any clothes, dear reader, oh no; As the most fashion-forward demographic we need to show that we know where it’s at. And, currently, where it’s at is Louie Louie. Their new flagship store opened last month to rapturous applause and much celebration as celebs such as Sadie Frost  DJ’ed the night away as revellers such as Mylene Klass, Jade Davidson and, erm, Lee Ryan (we presume he wasn’t looking for anything for himself…) drank champagne, nibbled on canapes and eyed up the merchandise.

Situated on Camden’s Chalk Farm Road (directly opposite the Stables Market), you’d be forgiven for expecting everything to be black, angry and covered in tattoos. In fact, the debut collection, ‘Louie Loves Camden’, is mostly available in plum (purple-y), coral (orangey) and blush (slightly pinkish) colours, but, being Camden, does have the odd black studded number thrown in for good measure, fusing ‘party-girl chic and high femininity’ in a way that provides wearable, sexy designer outfits at not-completely-ridiculous prices. (Don’t get us wrong, this is no Primark or TopShop, but for the £25 – £150 pricetags we saw, nothing seemed overpriced or horribly cheap.)

So, when it’s time to remind your girly just how much you love her (and, of course how fabulous, fashionable and fucking amazing you are), a trip to Louie Louie for that special present will buy you years more dedication, devotion and, of course, discretion…

You can also find their stuff at louie-louie.co.uk, or by wandering along Chalk Farm Road. (Also, say hi to the guys in the shoe shop next door – they have silly hair but are very nice.) And, of course, @louielouieloves
