Coronation Street’s lesbian plot line to continue

Sophie Webster

Sophie WebsterActress Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, has said her character will remain a lesbian beyond the current storyline, which has seen her fall in love with her best friend, Sian Powers.

She was questioned on This Morning about whether she was just going through a ‘phase’.

She replied: “No – in the story conference, they wanted to point out that it wasn’t a phase because it’s not a phase to most people.”

“We wanted to play it really real and just normal. You have a stereotype of what a lesbian is and it’s not always like that.”

“You’re just going to see the ups and downs of it all. Just stay tuned.”

Sophie plays the second main gay character, along side Sean Tully who has been played by Anthony Cotton since 2003.
