Bar & Club listings – 11/12 September

Area Vauxhall

Here’s a brief roundup of what’s happening at the bars and clubs around London this weekend. We haven’t got time to include everything, but if we’ve missed off your favourite, leave a comment below and we’ll try harder next week.

Saturday 11 September

X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke will be wowing the crowd at G-A-Y with her new single, Start Without You. £5 entry with wristbands from G-A-Y Bar on Old Compton Street.

BN is Amsterdams legendary club Bear Necessity, and it’s coming to London for one night only. DJs Radio & David Hernandez are on from 11pm, and it takes place at Fire, South Lambeth Road, London SW8. Tickets £10 in advance from clubtickets.com, more on the door.

Funkarama is at Barcode Vauxhall, promising early 1980s New York and Chicago house with DJs Leonardo Glovibes and Daz Saund. 10pm ’til 5am at 69 Albert Embankment, London SE1

Sunday 12 September

Soho Pink Sunday is a mini-festival, but don’t go expecting dance tents in Soho Square. All of the activities take place inside each of Soho’s gay bars. Wander around, you’re sure to find somewhere to spend the day. Starts at noon.

Matinee Summer London is at Ministry of Sound, 103 Gaunt Street, SE1 6DP. Presented by gaydar and Soho Gyms, DJs include Pagano, Nick Tcherniak, Alessandro Londra, J Louis and Vanessa Klein on PA. There’ll be an Ibiza style open terrace from 2pm ’til Midnight. Advance tickets are £15 from Clone Zone, Prowler, The Box and on www.clubtickets.com.

Beyond Belief at Area, Albert Embankment, Vauxhall, kicks off at 3.30am til 1pm on Sunday. Music from Steve Pitron, Mikey D, Alan K, Paul Christian, The Sharp Boys, D’Johnny, Gonzalo Rivas and guests. £5 before 5.30am if you bring along a copy of an ad (grab Boyz magazine).

The RVT hosts Chillout with SLAGS, which, I’m assured, stands for the South London Action Girls Society. Doors from 2pm – tickets from then ’til midnight are £8, if you arrive after 7.30pm it’s a fiver. The D.E. Experience are on from 5.30pm, and DJs Simon Le Vans, Andy Almight & Sean Sirrs will be providing the tunes.
